What is Roblox? Games, creation and account safety

Roblox is a platform of online games and experiences, not one single game. Launched in 2006, it brings together experiences made by different creators. Its variety is the central attraction described in the site's original introduction.

Playing and communicating

You can explore Roblox on supported devices, including computers, phones and tablets. Free access does not mean that every item or experience is free: purchases and paid features may be offered. Check the requirements for the device and experience you intend to use.

Chat is not unrestricted communication between every player. Roblox's chat guidance explains age checks, age-group restrictions and settings. Families should also review the official parental controls before enabling communication or spending.

Creating your own experiences

Roblox also lets creators build experiences. Learning programming and design, then testing what you make, takes practice; an interest in games does not make development automatic or effortless. The Roblox Creator Hub is a starting point for its creation tools and documentation.

Eligible creators may apply to exchange qualifying earned Robux through Developer Exchange. Creating a game does not guarantee a payout, and the programme's requirements apply. This is not a promise of income.
