What to check in your server logs

Review the timestamp and time zone, source IP, HTTP method, requested path and response status together. Check whether requests concern ordinary public pages, repeatedly cause errors or attempt to reach protected files. A bot name alone is not enough to decide whether a request is useful or harmful.

Do not create an allowlist based only on the user-agent. If requests cause a problem, review the relevant hosting access controls and rate limits. Credentials, backups and private files should not become accessible merely because a client identifies itself as a crawler.
